A Time for Tributes: Lina, Defining Flamenco Fashion

If there is anyone in the flamenco fashion sector that is admirable, endearing and respected, it’s Lina. Her fame and 50 years of dedication to the creation of gorgeous flamenco dresses precede her. And the Association of Flamenco Fashion of Andalucía wanted to recognize her body of work during SIMOF with a beautiful tribute attended by some of the most famous movers and shakers of the sector.

Homenaje a Lina

Pilar Vera, President of the Association, welcomed Lina with a commemorative plaque and heartfelt words, while Ángeles Espinar presented her with a bouquet of flowers, followed by the applause of those present and Lina’s emotional words of appreciation.

Lina is an indispensible name in Flamenco Fashion history. Her hands have sewn the most celebrated dresses of the most respected singers of the XX century. She has also dressed very influential personalities, such as Grace of Monaco, the Duchess of Alba, Queen Sofía, and several celebrities of our time. A Lina in the closet is a textile jewel that defies the passage of time, that’s why Lina deserves a prominent place in the history of Spanish fashion. She is the winner of a Goya Spanish Film Award for Best Costume Design for her work on the film “Yo soy Esa,” which starred Isabel Pantoja.

And today her colleagues have recognized her for what she is: A Master of Flamenco Fashion. We too would like propose a toast to Lina, because she deserves it.
