The singer José Cortés Jiménez "Pansequito" (La Línea de la Concepción - Cádiz, 1946) has been rewarded with the "Distinción Compás del Cante 2010" award, presented by the Cruzcampo foundation to great figures of the flamenco world, for twenty four years now.The jury, convened today and chaired by Matilde Coral, decided unanimously to granted this award to "Pansequito", "for his long career in singing, a great performer with a deep freshness and a strong personality", according to a press release of this foundation.Besides the jury, also formed by Miguel Clavero, Teresa Peña, Daniel Pineda Novo, Ángel Vela, José Luis Buendía and Emilio Jiménez Díaz, has also rewarded, with a special mention, the Bienal de Arte Flamenco "Ciudad de Sevilla", for his contribution for more than thirty year to the diffusion and promotion of the flamenco.

The Suma Flamenca Festival is going on with the recital of Miguel Poveda, a tribute to a deep encounter, dedicated to the Catalan singer 17 years ago, during the Festival de las Minas, for his 50. anniversary.The contemporary music, the Spanish music, the fado, the bolero, the flamenco, the tango, everything finds its place in this unmeasured voice, the voice of Miguel Poveda, the star of this Festival Suma Flamenco. During this festival we will also know emerging talents.

After a long wait, Cecilia Gómez first flamenco show "Cayetana, su pasión" finally has its start in Madrid. This is an artistic work created in honour of Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart, a luxury and spectacular show, success of the media, that started last Thursday in the mythical Gran Via of Madrid. A lot of famous were there and also the main character, Doña Cayetena, with her sons Cayetano and Fernando Martinez de Irujo and his inseparable Carmen Tello or Alfonso Díez. Fran Rivera, the ex boyfriend of Cecilia Gómez was there with his brother, Julian Contreras. It was clear for Cecilia that her first show would be dedicated to the aristocrat, because the Duquesa de Alba is real and genuine flamenco, from top to toe.
Estrella Morente opens the V Festival Flamenco Community
""Tablaos", "cante", dance, and feeling are the ingredients that converge this friday, 4th of june, at the starting signal of "Suma Flamenca", in the Flamenco Festival of the Community of Madrid, that will take place during the next weeks till the 2nd of july. Estrella Morente will open the Festival in the Auditorio Théater of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, but she won´t be the only one that will act in the opening, because there are other 6 shows schéduled in three other councils of Madrid almost at the same time.
For example, in the Salón Cervantes of Alcalá Théater, one of the best guitars of the flamenco history, Enrique de Melchor's one,will play for those who will assist. Melchor will be accompanied by three musicians, at the guitar, flute and percussion, one "cantaor, two "cantaoras" doing chorus and "compás", and one "bailaora". Paco Taranto, the extremaduran Guadiana or Capullo de Jerez, Juana la del Pipa and Mariana Cornejo in the tribute "Remembering Chano Lobato", will meet tonight in different places of the Community.

The Flamenco Summit of Caja Mediterráneo (CAM) opens with the performance of the Guitar player Vicente Amigo, in a stage that changes location this year and will be celebrated in the Plaza del Cardenal Belluga, with the image of the cathedral and the shows of the Carmen and Matilde Rubio Spanish Ballet of Murcia Company  and the "cantaor" Juan Peña "El Lebrijano".

These are the artists that will take part in the XVII edition of this festival, an historic event of the "Caja" and that year after year gets out of control, said the territorial president of CAM, Angel Martínez. The location where it's normally celebrated, The Romea theater, is closed for repairs, and the installations of the institution are getting smaller.
