La luna de Tomasa

'La Luna de Tomasa' is Tomasa de Guerrero's latest album. It is a weel expected piece of work, considering that her Jerezian origins are clear in her cante. She has qualities that can satisfy any taste, she is melodic, sweet, beautiful and sensitive and purely Jerezian. She sings four bulerías: 'Como comer solo' is the most exciting one, then there is the catchy 'El corazón tras la puerta,' 'Mimare Manuela' is very rhythmic and enthusiastic, and 'De Belón' is the most Jerezian sounding one with Moraíto's cante. In all of those tunes Tomasa's voice is unmistakable. According to Tomasa, the producer, Isadrio Sanlucar, brought out the best of her in this album.
She also performs a soleá, 'Ojos claros,' and a seguiriya 'Háblame con franqueza,' with a jondo cante sound, showing the powers of her voice.
La Macanita also perfroms some tangos, a rumbita (the most danseable song in the album,) and some alegrías, which are beautiful melodies and wind up being very elegant and personal.
Tomasa La Macanita's album is fresh and very flamenco. Artists contributing to the recording are Manuel Morao, Diego del Morao and Juan José Suárez "Paquete" on guitar, Tino Di Geraldo on percussion and clappingand jaleos by Bo, Chicharrito and Gregorio.
