Description

This is Juan Peña's, El Lebrijano, 33 release under the title Sueños en el aire.
Juan Peña 'El Lebrijano,' makes his debut with the Senador label with 'Sueños del aire,' an album that carries on with previous experimentations and risks that characterize this cantaor's previous works. In this new piece, for example, he collaborated with the Bulgarian Gypsies by recording a version of the international anthem of their people. "I had in my album 'Lágrimas de cera,' and I met these musicians and I asked them to sing me the hymn. I already knew it existed" he said. Four clarinets and an accordian have been some of the instruments used in order to shape a tune that culminates with a seguiriya by Juan Peña. He said "A great block has been left behind; they speak of the children and I speak of the freedom of men." Here are some of the important songs of the remaining from 'Sueños en el aire;''En el soto" which is performed with violins, guitars and harmonicas; 'Calle ancha, calle abajo,' where there is a collaboration with a group of children from the Tres Mil Viviendas; 'Sueños en el aire,' the song after which the album is titled; 'El camino de Zafra,' which reminisces of a fair in that town where the sons of gypsies would ask for the hands of the girls; 'El diálogo,' based on a poem by García Lorca and performed only with voice and percussion; and last but not lesat, 'Una rosa,' a song with a "certain spiced up tone" which is also by the author of Fuentevaqueros.
