Flamenco flowers are hair ornaments worn as accessories with the flamenco dress at ferias, pilgrimages and performances. They are typically made from fabric (satin, organza, synthetic silk) and reproduce the shapes of roses, dahlias, carnations and other blooms. They are placed on the bun, at the side of the head or loose in the hair, providing the splash of colour that completes the flamenco look alongside earrings and mantoncillo.
Flamenco flowers are classified by craftsmanship and style. Handmade flowers are assembled petal by petal, individually cut and mounted, making them the most detailed. Affordable flowers offer good appearance at very accessible prices. Bouquets (ramilletes) combine several flowers into one piece to cover more of the hairstyle.
